Colgate Open Innovation Challenge: "On-the-Go" Oral Health
Request Number: 183433 | Author: Colgate-Palmolive
Description
Colgate is seeking oral health solutions that can be used anytime/anywhere as a supplement to consumers' oral health routines. These solutions should make oral health more effective and easier but will not be utilized as a substitute to toothbrushing.
Background
Due to increasingly busy lives, taking care of one's oral health can be a challenge. The paradigm of 2x/day brushing as the ONLY oral health intervention has proven to be insufficient given that half of the world's population is affected by oral disease (http://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/oral-health).
Key Success Criteria
Efficacious for therapeutic and cosmetic benefits (e.g. a clean and fresh mouth), easy to use/consumer friendly, cost effective
Possible Approaches
Novel oral health formats (e.g. chewable forms); packaging to enhance the delivery of oral health products
Development Stage
Solution should have a viable prototype/proof of concept with IP
Approaches not of interest
Theoretical ideas that have not been reduced to practice, very expensive device-based solutions
Preferred Collaboration types
To partner with a start-up company, entrepreneur, university, etc. that has a developed solution and ideally, manufacturing capability
